- PAC-MAN was released in 1980.
- The name "PAC-MAN" comes from the sound paku-paku, which in Japan, represents the sound one's mouth makes while eating.
- Guinness World Records has awarded the PAC-MAN as "Most Successful Coin-Operated Game" in 2005. In addition, Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2010 notes that PAC-MAN is the best known of all videogame characters and is recognized by 94% of American consumers.
- PAC-MAN was designed by NAMCO ex-employee Toru Iwatani.
How to Play
Swap adjacent game pieces to make matches of 3 items or more.
Gifts:
- PAC-MAN – Drag PAC-MAN to eat frightened ghosts.
- Scramble – Mix up the tiles.
- Eat Column – Eat up a column of tiles.
- Eat Row – Eat up a row of tiles.
- Eat Both – Eat up a column and row of tiles.
- Cherry Bomb – Blow up all tiles of the same type. The fuse is lit, so use it fast!
- PAC-Bomb – Blow up a 3x3 tile area.
Using PAC-MAN
Drag PAC-MAN into the play area. Drop him on a tile. Then let go and watch him eat!

Tips & Tricks:
- Need to make a Match? Rotating the board can give you a different perspective as well as a different solution!
- Accumulate Gifts. Saving Gifts for later levels can mean the difference between staying ahead of the ghosts or becoming a ghost!
- Set up cascades. Setting up cascades of matches moves PAC-MAN quickly around the board and earns big points!
- Use PAC-MAN strategically. Not only does PAC-MAN grant you points from everything he eats on the board, but can be used to set up matches for gifts or matches greater than 5!
