SAN JOSE, Calif. (May 18, 2005) -- (From E3, Los Angeles May 17-20, 2005) – Namco America Inc., a leading publisher of wireless games and content, today announced plans to launch PAC-MAN’s Arcade Corner, an interactive ringtone application with a colorful, retro feel and a source for exclusive video game ringtones.
Hosted by PAC-MAN himself, the full-color application features music and video game ringtones in a fresh user-friendly format. With new search functionality, beloved ghosts Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde help users easily find the ideal ringtone. Blasting high-quality sound, even Inky can’t keep from dancing on your mobile phone screen to these tones.
“Scrolling through list after list of songs is boring and can be time-consuming,” said Scott Rubin, General Manager of Sales & Business Development for Namco America. “PAC-MAN’s Arcade Corner is a new experience in previewing and downloading songs. Not only does the functionality make it is easy, but new features make it fun.”
As a unique way to preview ringtones, “Game that Tone!,” a mini-game included with the application, puts your listening skills to the test in a multiple choice format. The fully animated feature puts users in a head-to-head competition with the ghosts, challenging users to name the tone just played. Winning or losing, users have the option to purchase and download the song or preview the other choices.
At the time of launch, all of the game tones included, such as the “Waka-Waka” sound from PAC-MAN and the theme music from Tekken, will be exclusive to Namco.
Namco America plans to launch PAC-MAN’s Arcade Corner this summer. E3 attendees can learn more about this unique ringtone application at the Namco booth (#824, South Hall).
